Founded in 2000, the World Match Racing Tour (WMRT) is the world’s longest running professional sailing series. Featuring world class sailors including America’s Cup and Olympic champions, the WMRT brings together the very best match racing sailors in the world in a global championship series. WMRT is exclusively sanctioned with ‘Special Event Status’ by World Sailing, the sport’s world governing body. The winner of the WMRT each year is crowned official Match Racing World Champion.
THE WORLD MATCH RACING TOUR
ONE WORLD TOUR. ONE WORLD CHAMPION.
Teams compete in different boats at from stage to stage of the World Match Racing Tour, however the boats supplied at each event are identical. To keep the competition 100% fair and equal, teams rotate boats throughout the event. This way, competing on the WMRT becomes about purely about the skill and strategy of the sailors.
The nature of sport, with close to shore action, intense tactical skills and live analysis, offers host cities an excellent opportunity to present themselves positively to a global audience.
