THE MAGENTA PROJECT

Founded in 2015 by members of Team SCA from the Volvo Ocean Race, The Magenta Project is an award-winning global charity committed to equity and inclusion in sailing and the wider marine industry. Through its mentoring programme, leadership development, pathways, and STEM initiatives, the organisation works to ensure greater access, visibility, and opportunity for women at every level of the sport and industry. The Magenta Project joined the Women’s World Match Racing Tour as Official Charity in 2025.

WIMRA

The Women’s International Match Racing Association (WIMRA) is an international association of women sailors devoted to expanding and strengthening women’s match racing as a sport and promoting opportunities for competitive women’s sailing at every level. WIMRA’s vision is to create a pathway for women to compete at the highest level in the sport of sailing. WIMRA is a woman-led designated 501c3 organization with a mission to promote the sporting event, women’s sailing, competition, female entrepreneurship, global relations and cultural exchange. WIMRA is the champion of women’s international match race sailing at every level from the developing sailor to the experienced professional. After the incredible success of women’s match racing in the 2012 Olympics, WIMRA created the first and only professional sailing series for women in 2013 – the WIM Series

SAILORS FOR THE SEA

The new collaboration will involve WWMRT and the Sailors for the Sea organisation promoting the highly successful ‘Clean Regattas’ program across all WWMRT event partners with the aim of events gaining official certification under the Clean Regattas program. Launched in 2006, the Clean Regattas program by Sailors for the Sea is the world’s only sustainability certification for water-based events; more than 3,000 events and 795,000 sailors have participated in the program in over 50 countries. The free self-assessment program awards levels of certification based on the sustainable activities achieved at events with Platinum status being the highest level to achieve.
